Well ok, he didn't actually admit to supporting ethnic cleansing and apartheid laws but a couple of weeks ago Simon Hughes proclaimed himself to be "unequivocally a lover of Israel". He told this to a Zionist fundraising audience. It was reported in the
Jewish Chronicle but, as far as I can tell, nowhere else until George Galloway mentioned it today in
The Guardian. I'll drop
Simon Hughes a line in due course to ask him to clarify his position.
