German Jews say No to Murder by the Israeli Army
After an 18-month long blockade, after systematic and comprehensive bombing of an enclosed strip of land that no one can escape from - with its 1.5 million people, it is the most densely populated area of the world; after a blood bath that has cost the lives of over 1000 people, with thousands of heavily wounded and that has traumatised the entire population of Gaza; after the indescribable destruction that has outraged world public opinion daily; after all this there are still voices, who describe Israel's measures as just, humane and necessary.
We are devastated by this inhumanity.
Does the fact that European Jewry were victim to a murderous injustice, carried out by Germany give the Jewish State the right to do injustice to others? Do German politicians really believe that reparation for the murder of our Jewish relatives is being made when Israel, stopping at nothing, now single-handedly does anything that it pleases?
We appeal to the German government to work towards the EU-Commission to end the murder in Gaza. The key to an end of the bombing of Gaza and the oppressively long years of blockade by Israel lies with the EU. There is no alternative to negotiations with Hamas, because they are the chosen representatives of the Palestinians. Hamas employs terrorist methods but the chosen representatives of Israel also do that and a hundred times more effectively, moreover.
By deterrence, Israel can only achieve a Pyrrhic victory. Israel has had enough time to set up maximum protection for its own population with negotiations over a just solution for the Palestinians, an end to the occupation of the West Bank and the blockade of Gaza: with lasting peace. The international community must compel Israel to do this.
